Kerry Madawyn McCarthy - Peron Islands Necklace Pendant Circle

$69.00

About the Artist

This necklace pendant is part of our Aboriginal Shared Dreaming collection, featuring the licensed artwork of Kerry Madawyn McCarthy, a Batjamal artist born in 1975 at Daly River in the Northern Territory, whose finely detailed paintings explore life, culture, and Country across the Top End.

The Story Behind the Art

Kerry's Peron Islands painting depicts two islands located off the coast of her Country, Bulgul. Accessible at low tide, when it is possible to walk across the shallow water, the islands are rich in wildlife and have long provided an abundance of food for the communities of the Daly River region. The artwork reflects Kerry's deep connection to this coastal country and the traditions of gathering and living from the land and sea.
